-The least developed continent.
-Between 1970-1990's poverty began in Africa.
-One of the most highly intellectual races, meaning a lot of them have moved to Europe and Asia to be recognised.
-In African families, the most successful is expected to look after the rest.
-The global village is led by U.S.A, Europe, Canada and Japan leaving out Africa and Asia as they are not viewed of any position in the Global Village.
-The Western World excludes Africa in the Global Village due to their relations because of slavery.

Images to add to my homepage
In order for my website to connect with my audience I am going to add images of technology they are familiar with on my homepage. As technology is something that children are interested in and engage in, in our current society.
Laptops and computers
Mobile phones

Televisions

I want to keep my homepage simple and with lots of images as my target audience will be better suited to imagery. I don't want to scare them with lots of writing on my opening page as they click around my site thats when they have the option to read. I will include facts on the 'Global Village' on several pages and teach them what we mean by the world being a 'Global Village.' I want my homepage to be fun, bright and simple.

Beginning Research, Africa
I am going to start my research on the content for my website. I shall start by looking at Africa because they are bottom in their placing within the Global Village. Although because parts of Africa have never experienced the World Wide Web does not mean they are not educated.
I have found a good book on Google which I will use for information for my website.
African people in the global village: an introduction to Pan African studies
By John K. Marah

Background of Website
Now the map has been incorporated into my homepage background. I aim to have the navigation bar set up at the top into a table and the continents labeled.

HTML (Adding my Map)
My map has now been added to my website. This is how I wanted my website layout. I am not sure what else to have on my homepage as I want the main focus to be on the map. The map also needs to be incorporated with the blue background rather than have that massive white bit behind the image. Also my continents need to be labeled so that my target audience can learn about them. A navigation bar also needs to be added at the top so it looks organised.

Cartoons for my Map
To make my website more child-friendly I am going to add pictures of animals to my map to make young children more interested in my homepage. I fortunately am able to use my own pictures I've taken of animals on safari to make into cartoons.

Phase 1 (Designing the world map)
Before commencing on my website the key part is designing my world map for the homepage. In doing my proposal I drew out the map by hand but have realised how time consuming that was. Instead of using drawings, I am going to use an existing graphic to get my outline for my map.
I am going to use this existing picture of a world map to get my outline on Photoshop for my map. I need to use a large image because this is going to be the focal point on my homepage. My whole idea for my website is also focused around this final image.

Once I placed the image in Photoshop, I cut the countries out so that I had my shape of the world map. This will make it easier to add different colours to different continents.

Next using colour, I picked bright colours to make the map 'child friendly' to capture by target audience.
Then I removed the background as I wanted to use a blue/turquoise background in its place.

My first go at HTML
This is the first time I've used HTML. With this I've been able to achieve the colour I want for my background, I want this represent the sea in relation to my idea on doing a world map. I have been able to add what I want my navigation bar at the top to include. I need to make my navigation bar in interesting for my audience as I don't want to bore them.
